Privacy notice
Carrier Battle Group mailing list · last updated 29 August 2026
This notice covers the one thing this website does with personal data: the email address you give it if you ask for development updates. It is written to describe exactly what the site does, rather than to cover things it does not.
Who we are
Paramecium Games Ltd is the data controller — the company that decides what happens to your address and is responsible for it.
| Company | Paramecium Games Ltd |
|---|---|
| Registered address | 71-75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom |
| Company number | 14538251 — registered in England and Wales |
| Contact | admin@parameciumgames.co.uk |
What we collect
Only what the sign-up needs to work. There is no account, no profile and nothing else attached to you.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To send you the updates you asked for. Nothing else. |
| A one-way hash of your IP address | Evidence that consent was given, and to limit how many times one connection can use the form. It is hashed, not stored — we cannot read your IP address back out of it. |
| Dates you signed up, confirmed and unsubscribed | To show when consent was given and withdrawn. |
| A random token | What makes your confirmation and unsubscribe links work without asking you to log in to anything. |
Why we are allowed to hold it
Your consent — UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a), and Regulation 22 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, which is the rule that governs marketing email.
Consent has to be a positive act, so the address is not added to anything when you submit the form. It is held as pending and we send one email with a link. Only when you open that link does it become a subscription. If you never open it, you hear from us once and never again.
What we do not do
- No cookies. The site sets none, so there is no cookie banner.
- No analytics and no third-party scripts. Nothing on the page is loaded from anyone else's server, so no other company sees that you visited.
- No tracking in the emails. No pixels, no per-recipient link rewriting. We do not know whether you opened an email or clicked anything in it.
- No selling, sharing or renting. Your address does not go to advertisers, partners, or any other company.
- No profiling or automated decisions.
Who else touches it
Our hosting and email provider, IONOS, as a processor acting on our instructions — the list sits on their servers and our emails leave through their mail service. Nobody else.
Your address is stored outside the public area of the website, so it cannot be reached by anyone browsing the site.
How long we keep it
- If you never confirm: the pending record is removed during routine clean-up and no further email is sent.
- While you are subscribed: until you unsubscribe, or until the mailing list is closed.
- After you unsubscribe: we keep a record that your address unsubscribed, so that it is not added again by mistake. That is a suppression record and it is not used to contact you. If you would rather we erased it completely, ask and we will.
Unsubscribing
Every email has an unsubscribe link. One click, no login, no questions, and it takes effect immediately. Withdrawing consent has to be as easy as giving it, so there is nothing else to it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- erase it;
- restrict what we do with it, or object to it;
- give it to you in a portable form;
- stop, by withdrawing consent — which does not affect anything sent before you withdrew it.
Email admin@parameciumgames.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK regulator:

Changes
If this notice changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in an update email rather than quietly editing this page.
